Mohsin Naveed Ranjha Charms With ‘Roti Boti’

When we think of couture clothing, our minds are instantly transported to a world of glitz, glam and high-end fashion. However, some designers tend to veer away from the well-trodden path, and set new standards of their own. They use their life experiences, their passions and their own thought processes to bring forward one successful collection after another, building a strong clientele and following soon into their careers. Other fads, trends and preferences don’t serve any benefits for these creative personalities. For them, it is easy to find inspiration from within themselves, and perhaps this is the secret to their success. Their innovation, their originality, and their courage to step away from a commonly trodden path into the unknown.

One such designer is Pakistani fashion designer Mohsin Naveed Ranjha, who loves to challenge the norms and set new standards in the fashion world. While the aspect of luxurious, high quality clothing remains, Mohsin finds unique inspirations to pave the way for his many hit collections. If there’s one thing this local talent can own with pride, it is his inimitable art of finding inspiration in places others can’t imagine.

The Mohsin Naveed Ranjha brand label gravitates toward a rustic aesthetic design philosophy combined with the love of tradition, which aids him in catering to a diverse clientele. The relatively young brand also believes in combining luxury with comfort, which perhaps has also contributed toward making his clothing line so popular. In a relatively short span of time, Mohsin has managed to make quite a name for himself in the apparel industry.

The latest Mohsin Naveed Ranjha collection, aptly named Roti Boti which is just in time for the highly awaited religious celebration of Eid-ul-Azha is just that; a collection of menswear that veers away from the typical bland palette with the incorporation of vibrant hues and tones, which are better suited toward the traditional male. This being a festive collection, Roti Boti pieces are crafted using pure luxurious cottons and hand woven jacquards, upon which are exquisite traditional embroideries with resham, kaccha tilla and kamdani works.

The esteemed designer delved into his Punjabi roots, where food is considered a love language, and something that brings people together. He travelled back in time to the days of his childhood spent in the historic, grand city of Lahore, resplendent in its ancient traditions, culture and of course, its deep love for food. Traditional, hearty, savory, sweet food. Having spent his youth in and around the narrow lanes of the old city of Lahore, Mohsin recalled the delicious aromas of phajjay ke paaye and cholay pathooray, and successfully attempted to connect his love for Lahore with the Roti Boti collection.

This is why the campaign revolves around the Old City, with male models dressed in various pieces from the collection, partaking of the traditional delicious dishes, and spending quality time together. The campaign of course, also showcased the myriad of colors featured in this collection’s pieces, from the basic white with exquisitely detailed embroidery, to a bright peach kurta with minimal embroidery, just around the neckline, embodying the MNR essence of catering to a diverse clientele.

Roti Boti is for a man of the world who is unapologetically desi at heart, and true to his roots.
